Firstly, a huge welcome to all you fellow wanderlust sufferers :) I know how hard it is. I promise I didn’t set this site up to rub it in, but yes, I am off travelling in a matter of days! (Countdown is now conveniently located in the sidebar if you’re already missing those pangs of jealousy, haha!)

But seriously now, let’s start with what this site is all about:

Itchy feet. Of the wanderlust kind. (Not the athletes kind) I’ve had itchy feet for a matter of years. Probably about 10 if I’m being honest with myself. Friends and family will testament to the fact that I have talked about it constantly over that time; agonised over finding the right time to go, waited for people to go with and tried to narrow down an itinerary that squeezed into some sort of budget. Well… that time has now come! May 9th 2010 to be precise is my big day. Plane tickets are booked, vaccinations and visas acquired and some very sketchy plans made. I cannot WAIT!

So what’s the plan?

My current itinerary involves landing in China – Beijing to be exact – and somehow I’ve got to get a return flight from Bangkok, Thailand anytime from 2 months to 6 months later. And that’s it! So who knows what countries I’ll be able to cram in in that time! While I’m travelling I’m going to be doing a little bit of blogging here – not too much mind, as I want to actually see and experience everything around me too! But I’ll also be doing some freelance online marketing too – it makes sense, I can’t stay offline for even a day and it’ll keep me grounded and sane!

This site will be an outlet and keep my friends and family up to date on what I’m up to, but it’s primary purpose is going to be as a community, sharing not only feelings of wanderlust, but experiences, tips, advice and any other tidbits that people have that are tentatively linked to travel!

Sounds fun, but what’s in it for me?

Come with me! Either literally or via this site; it’s up to you! I love meeting new people and kindred spirits, whether virtually or in reality. If you’re in one of the countries I’m headed to, get in touch! Or if you have any advice, nostalgia or wanderlust you’d like to air, this is the place to do it!

Well that’s all folks! I’ll be posting my progress on trip planning and the journey, but make sure you follow my updates on Twitter too! Enjoy and keep in touch!
